During my summer vacation after my college graduation I went to travel with my boyfriend who was working on his Master's with Georgia Tech in France. We went to a place called Mont Saint Michel in Normandy. The weather was horendous! It started raining as we were walking down the extremely long causeway to get to the island, and we were sharing one umbrella. We ended up incredibly soaked so decided to go straight to lunch to dry off a little.

We ate £25 omelets (mine included lobster!) with baguettes and butter than we accidentially cut into the shape of a heart. After that we began walking around the island to find the place that we wanted to stand to watch the tide come in later that night.

After walking around the island we began retracing our steps. It was cold, so I began to question him but he insisted that we keep walking...he finally picked the spot he liked where we stood for a while and looked out into the distance.

Then he looked at me and said:

"Susan, I like you."
I replied:
"I like you too, David."
Then he said:
"I love you." ...which caught me by surprise cause we don't throw those words around casually, to keep them special.
Then he said:
"Will you marry me?"
And I asked:
"Are you serious!?"
He said:
"Yes I'm serious, will you marry me?"
And of course, I said:
"Yes!"

After some hugs, tears, and excitement, he then said: "Well then, I think you'll be needing this."
And he pulled a beauiful ring out of his pocket!

Little did I know that my parents, who had been traveling with me before we met up with my boyfriend, had transported the ring from the UK, to him in France, entirely without my knowledge.
