We Make Beautiful Music Together

I am actually a musician and have a wedding band on your website. I will be getting married in Nov to the most wonderful woman, Laura, who is actually the wedding singer in my group!

I was in medical school and Laura was in graduate school getting her masters. Our studies prevented each of us from getting out as much as we wanted, so we turned to the internet. Laura didn't have a photo, but I was immediately attracted to her profile: By day, she was getting her masters in order to be a teacher for deaf children, and by night, she auditioned for Broadway. I figured we'd be a good match since I was in medical school studying to be a doctor by day, and by night I played original music with my band at clubs.

I contacted her. However, I did not get a response for 1 and a half years! I later found out that she really liked my profile and had wanted to reply, but she had just begun a serious relationship with someone else. She didn't feel it was right to keep my info during her relationship so she asked her best friend, Rachel, to keep my email in a safe place. Miraculously, her friend did not lose my email address one and a half years later when the relationship finally broke up.

After 1.5 yrs of dates, but nothing that was catching, I get an email one day from Laura. She explained how I had emailed her a while back and how she had really wanted to reply if not for the other relationship (as explained above). I knew what I had on my hands -- a girl with a good heart, someone who is faithful, and honest and who commits to a relationship. That was just the type of person I was looking for...Soon Laura would be the new singer for my band. We now make beautiful music together.

We have a VERY interesting engagement story:

For my birthday, she wanted to take me on a date to a surprise location. I could sense something was up, and I saw my opportunity. I figured it was a place she visited on one of her class field trips, since she always comes home afterwards and tells me how she wished I could have been there too. A museum, I thought? I confided in her friend, who confided in me, and found I was right. The US Intrepid Museum, a aircraft carrier-turned museum in NYC. She was planning a surprise birthday party for me and inviting all my friends. But I surprised her.

The museum allowed me to set up a fake display. The caption said "This is the actual diamond engagement ring used by Dr. Daniel to propose to Ms. Laura on October 2nd at 1:26pm." (Her favorite number is 126).

People had seen the exhibit that day and came by at that time. Of course, all our friends were there, not to mention many tourists with cameras. Then after I proposed, we kissed, and everyone clapped, Laura turned around...I had her entire family (grandparents, sisters, parents, cousins) fly up to NYC from Florida. She was completely shocked and couldn't stop crying out of happiness all day. I gave my brother our video camera at the beginning of the day so we have it all on dvd. Also, I found out that the Intrepid was the last place any of Laura's family had seen her grandfather who passed at a young age, and right around the time Laura was born.

I had a part B to the plan involving use sharing a romantic slow dance to a song I wrote for her played by live musicians who were there, but everyone was crying so much and admiring the ring, that we didn't even get to it.

We're getting married in November!
