My Proposal

My fiancee and I have been dating for 4 1/2 years. We had discussed marriage but couldn't really afford everything that goes with a wedding so we were happily living together as boyfriend and girlfriend. He had begun asking questions about what kind of Ring I wanted and I answered honestly that it didn't really matter as long as he picked it out himself.

Well my best friend told me that I didn't have anything to worry about so I assumed he had bought a ring and took her with him to pick it out. Boy was I was wrong!

One week he and I were discussing our weekend plans. We were joking around and made a bet (not even sure what the bet was about). He said that if I won, he'd take me out to eat that weekend anywhere I wanted. And if he won, he'd still take me out. I was a little anxious after all the questions so I agreed feeling sure he'd propose the weekend.

Well that Wednesday, he called me on the way home from work and asked where I wanted to go eat that night. Told me I could pick any place. We had to run an errand so we were going to eat on the way home. On the way to the errand, my sister called and wanted to know what we were doing. I said going to Eat.

She nervously asked, just the two of you? I said yeah. She said nevermind. I asked what? She said they (her family) were going to eat and she was going to invite me and Thomas but since we were already on our way to eat, she'd just talk to me later. I said okay and hung up.

Thomas said Call her back and tell her we'll go eat. Well my nephew wanted to go eat at this little whole in the wall Restaurants/store by the house which was fine with us. But my sister said my brother in law wanted to eat at Ruby Tuesday's but had to shower and all that. We told her that on the way back from our errand we'd call her and tell her we were ready.

When we called she said he still wasn't ready so we took Thomas' truck home (that was our errand) and went all the way back to the Restaurants. When we got there, my mom, dad, little sister, one of her friends, older sister, brother in law and 2 nephews were there. We went in and I went inside to tell the hostess how many. My boyfriend was talking hard to my mom and sister. I just blew it off as him telling them about his day at work.

Well we got inside to our table and aftter everyone had finished eating Thomas said that he had something he had to do. He said this isn't something I do every day and I'm a little nervous. I said "you're not doing this here in front of all these people" and I started blushing. When he pulled out the Ring box, there was a little light inside the box and I said "OMG, it lights up!" I was so excited and embarassed at the same time that he never even heard me said Yes! Everyone in the whole Restaurants were looking at us!!

Then my sister and mom had to look at it because my sister thought my ring was so big I meant it lit up! After it was all over with, he said I've still got Butterflies in my stomach. He said that I almost caught him because I reached under the table and rubbed his thigh.......on the same side as the Ring box in his pocket. My little sister said she can't believe I didn't see him playing with it under the table the whole time. She said the light would go on and the light would go off.............on, off, on, off, etc.

We got married on June 6th, 2009
