Jonathan Syer is a corporate event photographer based near Sevenoaks in Kent.

He is a Licentiate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography and has documented weddings extensively throughout England as well as abroad in a style that is mainly documentary in approach but one that also embraces elements of fashion and classical wedding photography.

Jonathan has also fulfilled assignments in the fields of commercial photography, namely architectural & interiors as well as being a contributor to major stock image agencies in the spheres of food and travel photography.

I studied photography at the prestigious London College of Printing in the Clerkenwell district of the metropolis and it was during this time that I began to photograph weddings. I soon came to appreciate the energy, the emotion, the people, the chaos, the sheer adrenalin rush that a wedding could produce - a day of profound nervous excitement for all involved - not just the bride and groom...

In fact the pandemonium that sometimes starts to surface at the beginning of a wedding day and gains momentum can make it all the more fun and unpredictable and so create exciting photographic opportunities...

I have been lucky enough to photograph at some amazing venues over the years such as Blenheim Palace, Villa Cimbrone on Italy’s beautiful Amalfi coast, Hever Castle, Grays Inn, Pembroke Lodge and Penshurst Place. These - and all the other venues I have worked at - have created challenges for me as a photographer that are the motivation to continually push boundaries and work hard to produce great photography.

My perspective on portraiture is a natural one where the person in front of the lens is in their own environment and comes through in unguarded moments...captured snippets of that persons spirit and persona that can emerge and then disappear in an instant...

Jonathan lives in the small hamlet of Heaverham in Kent with his wife and young daughter.
